Philip W. Gold, M.D., is chief of the clinical research program of the Clinical Neuroendocrinology Branch (CNE) at the National Institute of Health where he pursues research on the diagnosis, treatment and overall health of patients suffering from depression. He is co-editor of "Neuroimmunomodulation: Molecular Aspects, Integrative Systems, and Clinical Advances" (New York Academy of Sciences, 1998) and co-editor of "NIH Symposium on Mechanisms of Physical and Emotional Stress," (Plenum Press, 1988). In the 1990s, he participated in the Library's "Decade of the Brain" symposia and has recently been appointed to the LC Scholars' Council.
