Saylorville Lake Camping Guidelines

 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operates this campground for your enjoyment and we appreciate the opportunity to be of service. Title 36 "Rules and Regulations," and other helpful maps and brochures are available from the Visitor Center , Park Rangers, Campground Attendants and Volunteer Hosts. Our goal is to make your visit a safe and enjoyable experience. Please help us maintain and protect park facilities and natural resources by following these guidelines while camping at Saylorville Lake .

 

If you need to contact Rangers or Deputies call the Polk County Sheriff's dispatch at 515-286-3333. In case of an emergency dial 911.

 

Upon Arrival, please stop at the Entrance Station for information. Occupied sites should have a dated Registration or green Reserved card on the campsite post. A camping unit needs to be set up on the site BEFORE Registering. Return to the Entrance Station to register within one hour of setting up your camping unit. Bring your car license # and, if applicable, your Golden Age/Access card for registration. Place your registration card in the holder on your campsite post upon returning to your site.

 

Campsites shall be registered only to persons 18 years of age or older, who will occupy the site during the full period of registration. Registering for a campsite permits 1 family unit (or 6 people) to place EITHER 2 tents, OR 1 wheeled RV and 1 tent on the site. One extra tent and 4 people may camp on site by paying an additional fee. Special rules apply in Prairie Flower group camp areas. Ask campground attendant for details.

 

Parking vehicles or placing other items on a campsite to reserve the site is prohibited. Parking of all vehicles including boats and utility trailers is restricted to your registered campsite or developed parking lots only. Parking is prohibited on the grass, along roadsides and on empty campsites. Please be considerate of other campers and advise your visitors of our parking rules.

 

"Grey Water" must be collected and properly disposed . Dish, bath, or other wastewater containing grease, soap, etc., may attract insects or animals, cause unpleasant odors, and create unhealthy conditions. Please be considerate of other campers and properly collect and dispose of all "Grey water". Do not drain the water on campsites or use it to water campground vegetation.

 

Vehicle Passes will be issued to registered campers. Passes must be displayed during site occupancy and allow use of beaches and boat ramps at no charge.

 

Visitors must also register at the campground entrance station and obtain a vehicle pass. Passes must be returned to the campground attendant upon departure.

 

Campsites must be vacated or registration renewed by 3 PM on the day due. Camping at any one campground is limited to 14 days within any 28-day period.

 

All vehicle operation (including mopeds and bicycles) shall follow all Federal, State, and local laws. Vehicles must remain on roadways and be used only to enter or leave the area, individual sites, or facilities.

 

Quiet hours are from 10pm to 6am daily. Campgrounds are restricted to campers only during these hours, please ask visitors to leave by 10 pm. Campground gates remain open 24 hours a day with two exceptions. The entrance gates at Acorn Valley and Bob Shetler will be closed between

10 pm and 6 am, access is permitted for emergency purposes.

 

Place all trash in dumpsters. Placement of campsite trash in fire rings, grills and shower building trashcans is prohibited . Upon ending your stay, remove all personal property and properly dispose of all litter. Recycling containers are located in all campgrounds.

 

Pets must be confined or on a 6 foot or shorter leash. Unattended pets are subject to immediate removal and impoundment. Pets are not allowed in bathrooms or shower buildings. Pet waste must be picked up and properly disposed .

 

Do not attach pet leashes, ropes, chains, clotheslines , etc. to trees or shrubs.

 

Firewood - only fallen deadwood can be gathered for firewood. Please do not damage, deface, or injure any standing trees, other vegetation or natural features.

 

Possession of alcoholic beverages by persons 21 and over is permitted in Bob Shetler, Cherry Glen, and Prairie Flower Campgrounds. The possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in Acorn Valley Campground.

 

The possession of fireworks , explosives, loaded firearms, ammunition, bows, or any other projectile firing devices is prohibited .
