Bob Shetler

Bob Shetler Campground is open May through September and features 69 campsites with electric hookup. It is located below the Saylorville Lake dam and features two portions of the campground on either of the river channel and the main campground along the dam.

Amenities include; drinking water, dump station at entrance station, electric, 1 handicap accessible paved campsite (w/water), flush toilets, showers, playgrounds, telephone (pay), easy access to Neal Smith Bike Trail.

Important Information!

Campsites are available on a first come/first serve basis on non-reserved sites. All other reservations must be made at least 2 days prior to arrival.
One family OR six people are allowed per site.
Campsite equipment is limited to 2 tents OR 1 tent and 1 wheeled unit per site. Other equipment such as boats or extra vehicles are allowed, if there is sufficient room to park them on the site.
Tents may be placed on the grass adjacent to campsite spurs.
Camper must 18 years old and over to reserve a campsite and must be present during stay.
Gates to the campground are closed from 10 PM - 6 AM

Getting There
From I-35/80 N of Des Moines: Take exit 131 (Johnston/Saylorville Lake) N on Merle Hay Rd. Travel N through Johnston for 2.8 mi. At the 4-way stop sign, turn left onto NW Beaver Dr and travel 1 mile. Turn right onto NW 78th Ave, just after passing a large concrete water storage tank on the right. Travel 0.8 mile on NW 78th Ave. and turn right at the stop sign (T-intersection). Travel 0.4 mile to the campground, located in the tailwater area below Saylorville Dam.
