Highlight Photo GOVERNOR, FIRST LADY TO LIGHT STATE CHRISTMAS TREE 12/23/2008
Gov. Mike Easley and First Lady Mary Easley participated in the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, on the west side of the Capitol grounds. The festivities began at 5 p.m. with musical performances by St. Mary’s Chorale and the Raleigh Concert Band. The governor and first lady hung wreaths on the Capitol’s west doors to begin the official tree lighting ceremony at 6:15 p.m.

GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES LATEST INSTITUTES TO HELP SUPPORT N.C. NATIONAL GUARD AND RESERVE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN 1/8/2009
Gov. Mike Easley announced today New Hanover County and Wake County school systems will host two-day Supporting Children and Families of the National Guard and Reserve Institutes. The institutes are designed to help school personnel better understand and deal with the unique challenges faced by children and families of deployed members in North Carolina National Guard and Reserve units. full story...

GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES 'BOOZE IT & LOSE IT' Nets 4,430 DWI ARRESTS 1/8/2009
Gov. Mike Easley announced today that state and local law enforcement officers issued citations to 4,430 motorists for driving while impaired during the holiday "Booze It & Lose It" campaign. The campaign, which ran from Dec. 1, 2008 to Jan. 4, yielded 155,067 traffic and criminal citations statewide. full story...
