Internship Program

General Intern Position Description

Interns will have the opportunity to assist with CTNSP’s research and technical operations, attend conferences and develop personal academic interests. Responsibilities include research assistance (library and internet) and administrative support, conference coordination, editorial and publication assistance, and database development. Interns must be able to work independently and multi-task efficiently with minimal supervision.

Positons are available within the following programs:

  • Information Technology
  • Military Force Transformation
  • Life Sciences (see here for more information)
  • Stability Operations and Building Partnership Capacity
  • Human Interoperability Enterprise
  • Social Science Models

Interns are expected to work at least 16 hours a work week during the school year and full time in the summer, within a professional, moderate to fast-paced environment. Interns who are able to work at least 2 semesters or year-round are preferred. There are some opportunities for paid internships under the Student Temporary Employment Program. NDU-CTNSP cannot offer assistance with relocation and living expenses.

Eligibility

Internships are available for current graduate and undergraduate college students with at least a 3.0 GPA from an accredited U.S. university or college, and eligible to work in the United States. Applicants must have strong research and writing skills, be detail-oriented, and MS Office skills. We seek interns from diverse academic backgrounds, including those in the fields of International Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Life Sciences, Public Health, Engineering, Security Studies, Computer Science, and Publishing.

For Summer Only:

To apply for a paid internship at the Center, please go through the USAJOBS posting. Interested students should apply for either of the "Research Assistant" positions listed and state a desire to work for CTNSP; undergraduates can apply for the GS-4 and graduate students for the GS-5. The job description clearly states that it is a temporary position under the Student Temporary Employment Program.

For All Other Semesters:

All applications must include a resume, short writing sample (in English, 5 pages maximum), two letters of reference, transcript (photocopy/un-official accepted), and a cover letter. The cover letter should include any regional or topical areas of academic interest of the candidate as well as the dates of availability.
