The North American Regional Action Plan (NARAP) on environmental monitoring and assessment is a unique regional undertaking stemming from the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC) between the governments of Canada, Mexico and the United States of America. As a parallel side agreement to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the NAAEC came into force on 1 January 1994, as an overarching framework for environmental cooperation.
