On December 5, 2003, the Hispanic Division presented a symposium devoted
to both the context of La Francophonie and the experience of living within
the global French-language community. In recognition of the bicentennial
of its independence, special attention was devoted to Haiti. The languages
of the symposium were English and French. Simultaneous interpretation of
French to English was provided by conference participant Dr. Marie Racine.
