Do I have to be a certain age to be a child care program staff member?
  Question
Do I have to be a certain age to be a child care program staff member?
  Answer
Most States require child care center staff and family child care providers to be of a certain age to work in or operate a program legally. The child care licensing regulations will include this age. For example, most States require child care center directors to be at least 21 years old, teachers to be at least 18 years old, and assistant teachers and aides to be at least 16 years old.
