Fishing on Laurel River Lake

The lake provides excellent fishing for black bass (largemouth, smallmouth, and Kentucky), rainbow trout, walleye, bluegill, and catfish.  Night fishing for trout is popular during the summer.  Fishing licenses can be purchased at the county clerk’s office, marinas, and many local stores.

State record Fish

The lake terrain is ideal for small mouth bass. Fisherman Coolie Williams caught the Kentucky state record small mouth bass about 1/4 mile from Holly Bay marina on Laurel River Lake. He set the record on May 16th, 2000 during a fishing tournament. The bass was a whopping 8.46 pounds. RecordFish.jpg (64529 bytes)
