Watch Your Mailboxes for
Social Security Statements!

The Social Security Administration mails an annual Social Security Statement to workers who are age 25 or older, and are not currently receiving a Social Security benefit.  The Statement should be in your mailbox about 3 months before your birthday.  The Social Security Statement shows your earnings records, upon which Social Security benefits are based.  It also estimates the benefits you and your family can expect to receive when you become eligible.  Since the statement provides an estimate of your Social Security retirement, disability and survivors benefits, it can be a valuable tool to help you plan your financial future.  Reviewing the posted earnings on your statement is another way you can be alerted to possible fraudulent use of your Social Security number. If you think you missed the Social Security mailing, you may request a Social Security Statement by calling 1-800-772-1213, or by completing a form on the Social Security Administration web site. • Link to The Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and Medicare. (http://www.opm.gov/insure/health/medicare/index.asp) This publication answers questions about how the FEHB program and Medicare work together to provide health benefits coverage to active or retired Federal employees covered by both programs.  It explains what Medicare does and does not cover, who is eligible for Medicare, and how benefits are coordinated between Medicare and FEHB plans.
