Technology Transfer

The research and technology developed by the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) scientists and engineers has benefited users in other federal agencies, universities, and industry since the Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) was opened in 1940.  In response to the Federal Technology Transfer Act of 1986, ERRC established an Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) to provide an active process to move discoveries from the laboratory to practical application. In addition to ERRC, the office has technology transfer responsibilities for other North Atlantic Area (NAA) locations.

This web site is designed to show technology that has been developed by ARS scientist at ERRC and NAA laboratories  that is available for licensing and/or collaborative research with CRADA partners.  Technology that has been developed at other ARS locations can be found at the ARS Office of Technology Transfer website.

ARS scientists and others can find the legislative history, policy, transfer mechanisms, and documents that form the basis for technology transfer activities in ARS.
