Dina Shehata is a special adviser for the Muslim World Initiative. She is a native Egyptian who has previously worked as a researcher at both Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies and the Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies in Egypt.
Shehata holds a master’s degree in political theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Ph.D. in Comparative Politics from Georgetown University’s Department of Government. Her areas of interest include authoritarianism and political reform in the Arab world.
Shehata is a regular contributor to the Arab Strategic Report and has published many articles in Egyptian and foreign publications on questions of reform and democracy in Egypt and the Arab world. She is also one of the lead authors of a forthcoming USIP report on political opposition in the Arab world.
