Safe Water System (SWS) Publications - Other HWTS Options
The Safe Water System is not the only way to treat water in developing countries in order to prevent diarrhea.  The following Fact Sheets have been developed by CDC, in collaboration with USAID and the organizations that promote these options, to provide information to organizations to help choose which of the numerous water interventions is right for their community.

This fact sheet describes the four different types of  water and sanitation interventions - water supply, water treatment, sanitation, and handwashing promotion - that are proven to reduce diarrheal disease in developing countries. (PDF - 117KB)

This fact sheet describes the four different types of household water treatment options that are proven to reduce diarrheal disease in developing countries. (PDF - 144KB)
