A total of 29 new and revised subject authorities have been submitted to the Library of Congress since the last update (Fall 2000). The following new subject authorities were submitted.

Most of these were submitted in October and November and have not yet appeared on LC's weekly lists of new approved subjects. The 6 headings sent to LC on May 28 appeared on the Weekly List for July 5, 2001.

The funnel also received another 59 proposals which are in various stages of processing or review. Of these, at least 28 lack bibliographic warrant (i.e. a book that could use it as a subject) and have been put on hold.

A new secondary source for languages is: Dalby, David. The linguasphere register of the world's languages and speech communities (Hebron, Wales: Published for Observatoire Linguistique by Linguasphere Press, 1999). This supersedes the Mann/Dalby, Thesaurus of African languages (1987).
