The NORA Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Council requests comments from individuals and organizations on the current draft of the "National Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Agenda."
The Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing sector comprises establishments primarily engaged in growing crops, raising animals, harvesting timber, and harvesting fish and other animals on a farm, ranch, or from their natural habitats. More than a million paid workers were estimated to be in this sector in 2005. This preliminary draft National Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing Agenda consists of three strategic goals relevant to the whole sector. They are focused on surveillance, vulnerable populations and outreach, communications and partnerships. In addition, six strategic goals are designed to address top safety and health problems in each of the three subsectors. Strategic goals have intermediate goals and action steps to describe the activities needed to achieve the strategic goal. Many of the goals include performance measures.
The Council seeks comments on the draft priorities, especially in relation to the most appropriate goals. Comments are also requested from organizations who will commit to advancing one or more Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing goals through partnerships.
