Work, Stress and Health 2008

Healthy and Safe Work through Research, Practice and Partnerships was sponsored by NIOSH, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Occupational Health Psychology. More than 750 people from around the world participated in the conference, which featured 368 speakers, 92 sessions and 135 posters, and offered new insights on bullying in the workplace, the effects of the 9/11 attacks on recovery workers, the stress of commuting and the effect of work on family life, among many other topics. 8th Annual Safe Patient Handling & Movement Conference, March 10-14, 2008

This conference provided participants with cutting edge research, best practices, and lessons learned in safe patient handling. The conference included diverse learning opportunities, including plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, workshops, “hands on” practice sessions, and a large exhibit hall with new and emerging technologies. Innovations from around the world were presented, addressing such topics as safety legislation, practice tips, technology solutions, effective training techniques, successful organization al strategies, and building a business case for safe patient handling programs. 2008 Toxicology and Risk Assessment Conference was in West Chester, Ohio, April 14 – 17, 2008

The goal of the 2008 Toxicology and Risk Assessment Conference is to provide a forum for discussion of a broad range of issues and challenges related to uncertainties, some known and others unknown, that arise when assessing health risk to human populations. In addition, it is intended to foster the collaborative exchange of scientific information, and training in toxicology and risk assessment.

AOHP 2008 National Conference – Reaching New Heights in Colorado, September 17-20, 2008

NIOSH is one of the sponsored of the 27th annual AOHP National Conference provides occupational health professionals with a variety of general and breakout sessions that enhance learning opportunities about safe patient handling, immunization updates, technology solutions and effective training techniques.
