Letter to All Interested Parties

January 8, 2008

SUBJECT: Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) Concept Paper

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory (NPPTL) is soliciting comments on a concept paper for PAPR performance requirements. The concept paper is provided as an attachment to this letter. Comments on this concept paper will be accepted through March 28, 2008. Reference Docket Number 008 for all submissions related to this topic. Interested persons or organizations are invited to participate in this process by submitting written views, arguments, recommendations, and data. Comments are invited on any topic related to this concept paper.

Comments submitted by e-mail or mail should be addressed to the “NIOSH Docket Officer” and should identify the author(s), return address, and a phone number, in case clarification is needed. Comments can be submitted by e-mail to: niocindocket@cdc.gov. If submitting comments by e-mail, they may be provided as e-mail text or as a Word file attachment. Printed comments can be sent to the NIOSH Docket Office at: NIOSH Docket Office, Robert A. Taft Laboratories, MS-C34, PAPR – Docket # 008, 4676 Columbia Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45226.

All communications received on or before the closing date for comments will be fully considered. All comments submitted will be available for examination in the rule docket (a publicly available repository of the associated documents) both before and after the closing date for comments. NIOSH includes all comments received without change in the docket, including any personal information provided.
