Speaker Biography: Stephen Carter is the William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Law at Yale where he has taught since 1982. He has published seven critically acclaimed nonfiction books on topics ranging from affirmative action to religion and politics. His most recent book and first novel, "The Emperor of Ocean Park," has been on most bestseller lists since its publication and was the debut selection of the Today Show?s Book Club. Carter, who received the 2002 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literature-Fiction, lives in New Haven, Conn.
