General Recommendations on Immunization
This podcast is presented by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
CDC – safer, healthier people.
CDC’s National Immunization Program recently released a revised immunization
reference, providing technical guidance about common vaccination concerns for
those who administer vaccines to all ages.
Vaccination programs are a critical component of health care for improving
the quality of life and preventing death. The 2006 Recommendations include practical
guidelines about vaccine administration, the timing of vaccine doses, storage
and handling of vaccines, and understanding circumstances when vaccines should
not be administered. They also remind us that every visit to a health care provider
can be an opportunity to vaccinate, and they stress the importance of reminders,
recalls, and education in helping the public adhere to vaccination guidelines.
