Mobile Recovery Centers Move Through Disaster Areas

SCARBOROUGH, Maine -- Several mobile Disaster Recovery Centers are moving through disaster-affected communities to assist individuals and business owners affected by the severe storms and flooding that occurred April 15-23.
The mobile facilities are available to help serve residents in Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and Oxford counties made eligible for federal disaster assistance on May 24. In addition, mobile recovery centers are operating in Cumberland and York counties until June 1. Each mobile unit operates between two to four days at multiple locations throughout federally declared disaster areas.
Four fixed-site Disaster Recovery Centers are operating until further notice in Cumberland, York, Lincoln and Oxford counties. Current operating hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday for all mobile and fixed-site recovery centers.

Those affected are asked to first register for assistance by calling toll-free 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week or register online at www.fema.gov.
Those who have questions about disaster assistance may visit the centers to meet with recovery specialists in person. Representatives of state, federal and voluntary agencies, including customer service representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will be on hand to answer questions and provide recovery information. Written materials about various assistance programs and how to reduce damages from future disasters are also available.
FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
