Live Webcasting

USIP's live streaming video is in MP4 format, and is compatible with QuickTime Player. To view or listen to a live USIP Webcast, you will need to download the QuickTime Player. (Note: USIP Webcasts are not compatible with Windows Media Player or Real Player.)

QuickTime is usually downloaded together with iTunes on Windows computers. If you already have iTunes on your computer, you may also already have QuickTime.

For best results we suggest that you install and test your ability to access live audio and video streams at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time of any USIP Webcast.

If you are still having problems accessing the live feed after you have downloaded QuickTime, you may have a firewall that is preventing you from viewing the feed. Please contact your network administrator.

While USIP webcasts are designed to be accessible to anyone with an Internet connection, a high-speed or broadband connection (cable modem, DSL, ISDN, satellite or network connection) is strongly recommended. As a suggestion, group viewings of the webcast arranged at libraries, college campuses, and community centers can usually provide high speed Internet access and opportunities for local post webcast discussions.

Special Advisory for AOL Users: AOL users may experience difficulties in tuning into live webcasts due to current firewall restrictions on the AOL network. For more information about firewalls and live Quicktime streams, please contact AOL for further technical assistance. Archived audio and video on USIP's Web site are available (except as noted) as downloads and not streaming files and therefore should not present problems for AOL users.

Archived Audio

Archived audio is now available in MP3 format. It should play on QuickTime, Real Player, iTunes from Apple, or on Microsoft's Windows Media Player. (If security settings are set to "high" on the Microsoft Windows Media Player then it will not work. You will need to right-click on the link to the audio and choose "Save Target As" or "Download Linked File". This will actually save the MP3 file to your computer and then allow you to play it in the media player directly.

You may also access archived audio from USIP events via podcasting.

Archived Video

Archived video is available in either Quicktime (MOV) and MP4 format. Quicktime files will require the free Quicktime Player, and MP4 files can be played on either QuickTime or Real Player.
