TEAM Goals
The TEAM Initiative has identified eight core goals that are essential to meeting the goals of Executive Order 13423:
- Increase energy efficiency and water conservation.
- Increase renewable energy generation and use.
- Reduce petroleum use and increase alternative fuel use.
- Increase application of sustainable building standards.
- Incorporate sustainable environmental practices in acquisitions.
- Reduce toxic and hazardous material use and increase recycling.
- Develop best practice models for the use of third party financing for energy saving projects.
- Electronics stewardship.
The Transformational Energy Action Management (TEAM) Initiative is a plan put forth by the Department of Energy (DOE) to dramatically transform the Department's energy, environmental, and transportation management. The TEAM Initiative is designed to end the practice of incremental energy improvements, and institute transformative management practices that put DOE on a path to true leadership in the arena of sustainable energy and environment management. Furthermore, the Initiative ensures that DOE meets and exceeds the goals of Executive Order 13423.
By fundamentally transforming the way DOE manages energy use in its facilities, the TEAM Initiative will leverage every possible public and private resource to improve performance and reduce energy and water costs at DOE facilities over the next few years. Moreover, the Initiative will contribute to the nations' energy and economic security while saving taxpayer dollars through guaranteed cost savings.
This site is designed to provide guidance on and track the progress of the TEAM Initiative.
