A special program at Pomme de Terre Lake is the fisheries habitat program. Approximately 100 brush piles are established or refurbished within the lake every two years through a coordinated effort of project personnel, the Missouri Department of Conservation and area volunteers. These brush piles provide various fish species with structures for loafing and escape from predators. Public support has been strong and the fisheries division of the Missouri Department of Conservation became actively involved in the program in 1992, providing materials, supplies, equipment, site locations and volunteers. A map showing the location of these structures can be obtained by writing or calling our office or by clicking on the Fishing map.
