Recreation at Sam Rayburn Reservoir

A wide variety of recreational activities are available to our visitors.
The US Army Corps of Engineers operates six developed parks around Sam Rayburn Reservoir, each unique, offering different views, opportunities, and experiences.   Activities include , camping, swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, equestrian trails and camping, hiking, picnicing, birding and wildlife viewing.

Additional recreation activities are offered by four marinas - Twin Dikes Marina and Resort,  

Powell Park Marina,   Jackson Hill Marina,  and  Shirley Creek Marina.

Cassells-Boykin Park  is operated by Angelina County,  and the US Forest Service manages thousands of acres of lands adjacent to the lake.  Sandy Creek, Caney Creek and Boykin Springs are parks managed by the US Forest Service; however only boat ramps are currently open due to extensive damage caused by Hurricane Rita in September, 2005.
