Welcome to the Office of Classification
Mission and Functions
The Office of Classification manages the Government-wide program to classify
and declassify nuclear weapons-related technology, implements the requirements of
Executive Order 12958 regarding the classification and declassification of information
that is vital to national security, and manages the Department-wide programs to control
unclassified but sensitive information.
