technology leadership team institute
What is the Institute?

The over-riding goal of the institute is for you to understand what we need to change in our teaching to increase student learning, why the change is necessary, and how to start the change process at your school. While we cannot provide you with a step-by-step model of how to change, we will expose you to a variety of techniques that will help you as you work with your faculty in this endeavor.

During the week, your team will begin to understand how to define a learning environment that is conducive to student learning and will work in your school, and see how technology is used to support this learning environment. Each team will develop a plan on how to share their learning with their school and present their findings at the end of the week.

The focus of the week is on professional development strategies that can be used to help move your school forward in using technology to support powerful student learning.

Together we will:

  • Examine technology's role in student and teacher learning
  • Investigate teacher change
  • Understand the indicators of engaged learning
  • Apply principles of effective staff development
  • Develop strategies to overcome obstacles
  • Share work with constructive friends
  • Use a variety of online tools
  • Explore curriculum software
  • Learn new classroom management techniques
  • Create a network of additional resources and expertise
