Funding Opportunities

The Federal government gives away billions of dollars in grants to states, localities and organizations to carry out specific projects. At the Administration for Children and Families, these grants go to projects that benefit children, families and communities. Faith-based and community organizations are eligible to apply for some of these grants.

Several links below offer information on grants available here at ACF, at the US Department of Health and Human Services, and across the Federal government. If you are seeking funding for your organization, please read the opportunities carefully to make sure you meet the eligibility requirements. Also, be sure to explore grant opportunities at your state and local levels.

Compassion Capital Fund

The Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) was established as part of George W. Bush's Faith-Based and Community Initiative to increase the scale and effectiveness of faith-based and community organizations through research, grants, and other supportive means. The CCF program is managed by the Administration for Children and Families' Office of Community Services.

You can find complete information on the Compassion Capital Fund, including current grantees and funding announcements, on the CCF National Resource Center website.

Grant Writing

For technical assistance on grant writing, take a look at the Compassion Capital Fund National Resource Center opportunities on the Toolkit for Faith-Based and Community Organization's page or on the Calendar of Activities. Further opportunities are available on the Technical Assistance Events and Resources page on the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives website.

How to Become an ACF Grant Reviewer

ACF needs qualified individuals to review and score grant applications. Typically, this requires reviewers to spend a week in the Washington, DC area. ACF covers expenses and offers a stipend.

Grant reviews for many programs at ACF only happen a few times a year; therefore, reviewers are only needed periodically. If you would like to review for a certain program, check the website for that program on a regular basis for updated information.

Several ACF program offices invite potential reviewers to sign up throughout the year. To apply to become a grant reviewer for the ACF programs below:

please go to: http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/grantreview.

To apply to become a grant reviewer for the Office of Community Services, go to: http://grantreview.net/.
