Summary: This Spanish language document provides guidance to parents, caregivers, and teachers of infants and young children about the physical activity capabilities and needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Providing opportunities for movement and encouragement to explore all kinds of movement is an important support for learning and healthy development. Young children (aged birth to age five years) should engage in daily physical activity that promotes health-related fitness and movement skills. These experiences can enhance the overall physical, mental, and social development of all children. Common questions and answers are providing concerning the motor behaviors of infants and young children. Contains 40 references.
