Biography:
While completing her Ph.D. in 18th-century literature, Philippa Gregory wrote her first novel, "Wideacre," which became an instant international best-seller. She has gone on to publish more than 20 novels, many reflecting her historical knowledge of the Tudor period and the 18th century. The award-winning “The Other Boleyn Girl” (2002) was adapted for the BBC, released as a major motion picture in the United States in 2008 and immediately rose to the top of all major best-seller lists. Gregory will appear in the Fiction & Mystery pavilion.

The 2008 National Book Festival, organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress and hosted by First Lady Laura Bush will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., between 3rd and 7th Streets from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival is free and open to the public.
