Eagle Days at Smithville Lake

SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Clay County Department of Parks and Recreation and Missouri Department of Conservation invites the public to Eagle Days at Smithville Lake in Smithville, Mo., Jan. 10 and 11.

The two-day event will be highlighted by live eagle programs by Operation Wildlife on Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. and will be held at the Paradise Point Golf Course Complex in Little Platte Park. Kids crafts and other vendors will be available Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

KSAAP Restoration Advisory Board Meeting

PARSONS, Kan. -- The Kansas Army Ammunition Plant will host a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting for the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant Site community members Dec. 4, 2008, at the Parsons Public Library from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The public can speak to representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U. S. Army and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment about on-going efforts to be good neighbors in the community. Refreshments will be provided.

Levee rehabilitation on Dry Creek Levee

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District levee rehabilitation construction project on the Dry Creek Levee in Salina, Kan., has been underway since September.

The construction has experienced weather related delays due to the rainfall that occurred the week of October 13. The new scheduled completion date has not yet been determined, but is likely to be in February 2009.

Icy Conditions Can Spawn Dangerous Situations at Tuttle Creek Lake

MANHATTAN, Kans. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake is encouraging winter time recreationists to take extreme caution with the present icy conditions.
Much of the lake now has a cover of ice on it that may look inviting. But there is no such thing as 100 per cent safe ice.

Rathbun Lake Continues Drawdown

Rathbun Lake levels continue to fall. As of Jan. 6, 2009, the lake level was about three feet above normal. Lake levels will continue to lower past the multipurpose (normal) pool level of 904 msl to 900 msl (four feet lower). This drawdown is necessary in order to complete construction projects in late winter/early spring.


2009 Youth Turkey Hunt in Bloomington Park

This is a heads up that this years Youth Turkey Hunt will be on April 4th. Below is a rundown of the rules for the hunt. The application will be posted on this website by February 1st.

1. Participation in the Clinton Lake Youth Turkey Hunt is allowed by permit only. Permits and zone assignments will be issued through a lottery drawing on March 17th, 2009.
