Summary: This document presents some of the questions that are frequently asked about Director Credentialing programs at the individual and national level, and proposes answers. Topics covered include content and competency areas required by director credentialing programs, number of hours or credits required, and their relationships with licensing, higher education and state early childhood education career development efforts. The document covers issues of pilot program development and the consistency of programs across the country. It provides an overview of state and national director credentialing initiatives in table form, and tabulated information by state on the minimum pre-service training, annual ongoing training, and administrative training hours required for directors in child care centers.
