Program Description
The Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to low-income children during school vacations. More than 26 million children eat school lunch every day when school is in session, and about half of them receive their meals free or at a reduced price due to low household income. The summer program offers those children nutritious food when school is not in session. Nationally, the SFSP serve approximately 2 million children a day during the summer. In summer 2003, Wisconsin served in excess of 1 million meals at about 400 sites operated by 90 sponsoring organizations.

General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin, your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $19,240 if one person lives in the household; $25,900 if two people live in the household; $32,560 if three people live in the household; $39,220 if four people live in the household; $45,880 if five people live in the household; $52,540 if six people live in the household; $59,200 if seven people live in the household; $65,860 if eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $6,660 for each additional person in the home.
