Boat Forces Command Cadre School
Boat Forces Command Cadre School prepares future leaders to execute their broad range of duties and responsibilities.  Students are provided with the skills required to use technical terminology, locate appropriate references, identify on the job challenges, and perform corrective actions, which are ethically responsible and consistent with Coast Guard policy. Learning focuses on the Coast Guard’s leadership competencies and operations.

This course is mandatoryfor all members who are in receipt of orders to or currently filling their first assignment as CO, OIC, XO, XPO, or EPO of a station, Aids to Navigation Team (ANT), or Maritime Safety and Security Team (MSST).  If you expect orders to any of the above billets, discuss attending this school with your detailer. Once you receive your orders, submit a Short Term Training Request through your Chain of Command with your preferred class convening dates.  You should receive orders approximately four weeks prior to the class convening.  To change your orders once they are issued you must submit a message to TQC at least one week prior to the class convening.

Attendance at the Boat Forces Command Cadre School is a reflection of the high regard and confidence the Coast Guard has in you – as a leader of our men and women. You will find the school to be challenging yet rewarding. Come with a clear mind, as you will be introduced to many concepts and a great deal of data regarding programs, policies, and procedures used aboard our stations, ANT, and MSST units. Boat Forces Command Cadre School was established as the Officer-in-Charge/Executive Petty Officer School in 1987 to prepare personnel for the demanding positions as Officer-in-Charge and Executive Petty Officers.  The current school was renamed Boat Forces Command Cadre School in January 2007 and is designed to prepare junior officers, chief petty officers, and senior petty officers for assignment as Commanding Officer (CO), Executive Officer (XO), Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Executive Petty Officer (XPO), or Engineering Petty Officer (EPO) billets at small operating units.
