Statement from Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman on the Death of Congressman Charles Norwood
WASHINGTON, DC – “Today we mourn the death of U.S. Rep. Charlie Norwood – a great man and tireless defender of his constituents in Georgia’s 10th Congressional District. Charlie fought valiantly to overcome extensive health problems and he did so with grace and tenacity. During my time in Washington, I have met few people with the conviction and dedication of this long time public servant, veteran, father, grandfather – this Gentleman from Georgia.
“Charlie will be specifically remembered for his vigorous advocacy on behalf of DOE’s Savannah River Site and the Mixed Oxide Program (MOX). This legacy will serve as an enduring reminder of his commitment to the people of Georgia. I send my condolences to Gloria, his wife of 42 years, his two sons, and four grandchildren.”
