  • NASA Blood Drive: Come particpate in the NASA Blood Drive on Thursday, August 24, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in MIC-6. Schedule an appointment with your office coordinator. Open to civil servants and contractors. Refreshments will be served. Donors should drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids the day before donation, and have something substantial to eat within 4 hours before donating. Water and juices will help against dehydration and will increase your blood flow during the donation. Eating something substantial and healthy before the donation dramatically reduces the risk of reactions. It is also important to have a good night's sleep before donating, and avoid strenuous physical activity prior to your appointment For additional information on this event, contact Beverly Vaughn, 358-2600.   • New Automated Awards System to Launch July 17, 2006 : NASA's Office of Human Capital Management (OCHM) is pleased to announce the NASA Automated Awards System (NAAS).  NAAS will be used for all awards including Honor Awards and all Incentive Awards.  More information, including the implementation schedule and training opportunities, is forthcoming.   • New Headquarters IT Contract Begins: On June 1, 2006, the ISEM contract was replaced by the Headquarters Information Technology Support Services (HITSS) contract awarded to InDyne, Inc. The HITSS contract provides integrated Information Technology (IT), telecommunications, engineering and operations support, and IT-related management support services. Desktop and Help Desk services will continue to be provided through the Headquarters Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA (ODIN) delivery order. Look for upcoming events to learn more about the HITSS contract and team.

  • New NASA Form 1735 For Off-Site Training Requests: The NF-1735 replaces form NHQ-56 and will be required for all off-site training requests beginning May 1.   • GSFC/HQ Shuttle Bus Service:As a result of recent institutional budget cuts, Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) has cancelled the Shuttle Bus service between HQ and GSFC. For further information, contact Clint Green, HQ Transportation Officer, at 358-0825.

  • 2006 Agency Honor Awards Ceremony: All NASA Headquarters employees are invited to attend the ceremony on Thursday, April 27, 1 p.m., in the HQ Auditorium. A Reception will follow in the West Lobby. The program will be broadcast live on NASA TV (NASA HQ Channel 31) and online. Contact: Gaile Eastman, 358-1504.

  • 2006 Secretarial and Clerical Awards Luncheon: Attend the 2006 Secretarial and Clerical Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, April 26, 11:30 a.m., at L’Enfant Plaza Hotel, Ballroom A & B, 480 L’Enfant Plaza, S.W., Washington, D.C.   • VoIP is Coming! New Phones for HQ! Voice over IP (VoIP), the new, integrated phone system for NASA Headquarters, is being deployed from September – November 2005. Training is available daily during deployment. For the training and deployment schedules , visit http://voip.hq.nasa.gov/training. This new system is being installed as part of the Headquarters VoIP initiative managed by the Information Technology and Communications Division. Contact Mike Barrett, 358-2516 for more information.

  • VoIP Town Hall Meetings: On Wednesday, April 5 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., in the PRC (Room 9H40), the Information Technology and Communications Division will conduct two Town Hall meetings on the new VoIP telephone system.   The meeting will also include a presentation by Cisco, the VoIP vendor.
