Instructions for Obtaining Online NAMS Training in SATERN

The NAMS Online training is now available in the System for Administration, Training, and Educational Resources for NASA (SATERN).

Please note the title and/or course number(s) of the NAMS training courses most appropriate for you, so that you may easily locate them in SATERN.  If you have never used NAMS, it is recommended that you take at least the following three courses, in this order:

Visit the SATERN Informational Web site for Quick Reference Guides, FAQ's, and to learn how to register. Or log in directly to SATERN to begin your training.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS


  1. Login to SATERN.
    1. Go to https://satern.nasa.gov/elms/learner/login.jsp
    2. Type your user name in the box provided.
      1. Your user name was determined when you first opened your account, and may or may not be the same as the user name you use to start your computer.
      2. If you are a contractor, type “C-“ in front of your user name.
    1. Type your password in the box provided.
      1. If you have forgotten your password, click on the link “What if I have forgotten my password?” (https://satern.nasa.gov/elms/learner/forgotPassword.do). Allow up to 45 minutes for an e-mail to be sent to you with your password.
      2. Note that passwords expire after 60 days of inactivity.
      3. If you continue to experience difficulties, contact the SATERN Help Desk by e‑mailing NASA-satern.support@nasa.gov or calling 1-877-NSSC-123 (1-877-677-2123). Support hours are 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. EST.
    1. If you've never used SATERN before, you may wish to review the SATERN tutorial.

  1. Locate the course you want to take.
    1. Click on the Catalog button, as shown below.

    1. Input the full course number in the ID field, as shown below, and then click the Search button in the lower right-hand corner of your screen.

  1. Take the Course.
    1. Click on the Launch Content button.
    2. Click on the course title, which is an active hyperlink.
    3. Click on the Begin Course button.
    4. Click “Yes” in response to the security box that pops-up.

    1. The training window will now display. Throughout the training, a written narrative is available in the panel on the right-hand side. Use the controls beneath the center panel to advance to the next screen.
