  • Shipping Procedures

CDS sends domestic orders by UPS or the United States Postal Service, depending on product weight and destination. International customers receive most products via surface mail. CD-ROM products and some new products are shipped via air mail. There is no charge for shipping or handling for these services.

For expedited service, ask about special handling (air mail, courier, overnight delivery, etc.). These fees are paid for by the customer when the order is placed.

    Tips for Optimum Service

For best service ... use your account number. When you order the first time, you will receive a customer account number. Use this number every time you order or correspond with us.

Also, ... make sure the cost of your purchase is covered. CDS must receive payment before shipping. You can pay by check drawn on a U.S. bank, Visa, Mastercard, International money order, UNESCO coupons, or draw on a CDS deposit account, but payment must arrive before the product goes out. You may wish to place a deposit in your account and set up a standing order for some products to have future issues and updates sent to you automatically.

Finally, check to see that your payment has been sent to the correct address. Direct all
    payments to:

    Special Bulletins

Because of security measures in effect in Washington, DC, all mail handled by the US Postal Service is subject to special handling, including irradiation, and inevitable delays ranging from two to six weeks. For faster service, send correspondence via email or private courier services such as FedEx or UPS. See note on mail delivery to the Library of Congress for details.
