Summary: This brochure by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services presents questions and answers for persons who have been indicated as a perpetrator of child abuse and/or neglect. If a person is indicated as a perpetrator, his or her name is placed on the Department’s State Central Register. If the report is unfounded, all identifying information concerning the report is removed. If a person is indicated as a perpetrator, it may affect whether he/she will be able to obtain and maintain employment or a license needed to work with children (e.g., a license to operate a day care home or a child welfare employee license).
