Observatories and Official Agencies
- Escuela Politecnica Nacional: Instituto Geofísico
- Scientists at the Geophysical Institute in Ecuador conduct seismological and volcanological research in Ecuador. This site contains photographs, background information, maps, seismic data, and regular scientific updates about current activity.
- Charles Darwin Research Station
- Good general information about the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador. Includes volcano reports.
- Observatorio Volcanológico de los Andes del Sur (OVDAS)
- The main objective of the OVDAS, a division of the Chilean Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería (SERNAGEOMIN), is to monitor the most dangerous volcanoes of the Southern Andes. The Observatory is located close to Villarrica and Llaima, two of the four most active volcanoes of the Southern Andes, and magnificent natural laboratories. They have another website here.
- Villarrica Volcano Visual Observation Project
- This site provides extensive information about the eruptive history of Villarrica. Visual observations by local residents and periodic crater visits are the basis of detailed logs of daily activity and photographs.

- Latin American Volcanoes
- Compilation of links to volcano-specific pages about volcanoes in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Bolivia, Perú, and Chile. Maintained by Glyn Williams-Jones at the Department of Earth Sciences, Simon Fraser University.
- Galapagos Geology on the Web
- The intention of this web site is to provide information on the Galapagos Islands to both scientists and non-scientists alike. While the emphasis of this web site is on geology, there are also many images and observations on biology. Major sections include an introduction to Galapagos geology, a tour of the islands, climate & oceanography, history, bibliography, and related links. The geology introduction and tour sections have links to individual volcano pages. A wealth of excellent information that is being added to regularly. Produced by Bill White in the Department of Geological Sciences at Cornell University.
- Geologic Atlas of the Galapagos Archipelago
- Maps, space photos, geochemical data, references, and photos compiled by Dennis Geist in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Idaho. Information pages for Isla Santa Fe, Volcano Alcedo, Marchena, and Pinta.
- Smithsonian Institution: Center for Earth and Planetary Studies
- The Colca Valley Geohazards Project is an effort to understand the hazards of volcanic processes near the Colca Valley, in southern Perú. As recently as 1991, seismic activity related to volcanism destroyed a pueblo in the valley. A combination of remote sensing and ground techniques is being used to better understand the geological hazards facing the people of the Colca Valley.
- Volcano World: South and Central America
- Images, basic information, and references. Not restricted to Holocene volcanoes.
- Volcanic Ash Advisory Statements
- Aviation notices issued by the Washington Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC). Coverage area includes the northern portion of South America.
- Volcanic Ash Advisory Statements
- Aviation notices issued by the Buenos Aires, Argentina Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC). Coverage area includes South America and the Southern Atlantic.
