Speaker Biography: International best-selling author Jeffery Deaver wrote his first book (two entire chapters) when he was 11. After college and a journalism degree, he was a magazine writer and later a legal correspondent. He obtained a law degree and after practicing law for several years, began writing suspense novels--the type of writing he enjoyed reading on his long commutes to and from his law office. His career as a full time writer has produced nineteen best-selling novels, including "The Bone Collector," which became a major film from Universal Pictures, and the most recent book, "The Twelfth Card: A Lincoln Rhyme" (Simon & Schuster, 2005). Deaver has been nominated for five Edgar Awards, an Anthony Award and is the 2001 winner of the W. H. Smith Thumping Good Read Award. He lives in North Carolina.
