Cooperative Efforts
The Corps of Engineers has been working with local schools and associations with the goal of improving wildlife habitat around the area. Projects include the construction of fish habitat, reestablishing native prairie, trail maintenance, and the placement of waterfowl nesting structures.
The goal of these efforts is two fold; first to improve habitat and second to build bridges between the local stakeholders.
Partners include:
- Nebraska Game and Parks Commission
- National Wild Turkey Federation
- Pheasants Forever
- Alma Public Schools
- Franklin FFA
- Harlan Lake Association
- Harlan County Tourism
