Landlord and Tenant Issues for Child Care, Volume One: A Resource for Landlords (PDF)

Summary: This manual is designed to help landlords work with tenants who have child care businesses in their homes. All States allow child care to be provided in neighborhoods. States are generally responsible for monitoring health and safety requirements, including whether the provider has adequate space, has taken appropriate measures to protect children from injury, and has a background free of criminal activity or child maltreatment. The chapters of this manual include: (1) “Business Concerns,” (2) “Safety and Liability Concerns,” (3) “Mobile Home Parks and Child Care,” and (4) “Getting Help.” Resources are included for further information.
