Maintenance work limits vessel sizes through Chittenden Locks in Ballard Contact: John Post (206) 789-2622, ext. 201, or Patricia Graesser (206) 764-3760 Dec. 15, 2000 SEATTLE--Vessel traffic through the Chittenden Locks in Ballard is restricted to vessels 327 feet or shorter from Nov. 1, 2000, through March 31, 2001, during rehabilitation work. The work will restrict large lockages to the west chamber, which can accommodate vessels 327 feet and shorter, according to the Army Corps of Engineers, which operates the Locks. The small lock is scheduled to remain fully operational throughout the closure period. The small lock can accommodate vessels up to 100 feet long and 25 feet wide.
