SEATTLE--On Saturday, Aug. 26, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be celebrating Libby Dam’s 25th anniversary of operation. The celebration starts at 11 a.m., with seven special speakers, including Seattle District Engineer Col. Ralph Graves, Governor Marc Racicot and Canadian Parliament representative, Jim Abbott. Following the Libby Dam 25-year celebration, Saturday, Aug. 26, hourly tours will be scheduled from the Treaty Tower from 2 to 5 p.m.
Between Monday, Aug. 21, and Friday, Aug. 25, tours will be given at 10 and 11 a.m. and on the hour from 1 to 5 p.m. Tours of Libby Dam are being cut back because student employees are returning to colleges and universities for fall classes. No tours will be offered Aug. 27 through 31. Tours will be available over the Labor Day Weekend from Sept. 1 through Sept. 4, at 10 and 11 a.m. and on the hour from 1 to 5 p.m.
The Visitor Center will be open seven days a week through Sept. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Beginning Sept. 5 until Oct. 31, fall hours are in effect, and the Visitor Center will be open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
