SEATTLE--Study team members from the Army Corps of Engineers will be at the July 18 Port Commission meeting to provide the Port and public an update on the ongoing long term management strategy study for continued operation and maintenance of the Grays Harbor federal navigation project.

            The purpose of the Grays Harbor Operations and Maintenance study is to assess the threat to the federal navigation project of a breach between the south jetty and adjacent land mass and to recommend the most appropriate long-term strategy to maintain and protect federal navigation features. The study focuses on the south jetty, Half Moon Bay, South Beach, Point Chehalis, and the navigation channel.

The Port Commission meeting is at 9 a.m. at the Westport Maritime Museum, McCausland Hall,  2201 West Haven Drive, Westport Washington.

The Corps portion of the agenda includes the following:

·         Update on the long term strategy study 

·         Final existing condition modeling report status

·         Next steps

The Corps will hold a public meeting upon publication of the report on the existing condition studies.
