Workshops offered on Army Corps permittingSEATTLE—The Army Corps of Engineers and Washington State Department of Ecology are sponsoring free workshops this August covering recent changes in nationwide permits, Endangered Species Act program streamlining tools and stream bank protection guidelines. On March 18, 2002, all nationwide permits were reissued, some with modifications. Nationwide permits are administered by the Corps of Engineers and authorize minor activities in the nation’s waters, including wetlands. These activity-specific permits allow work that will have a minimal adverse impact to the environment when that work meets certain terms and conditions. The workshops will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and registration is not required. Dates and locations are as follows: Aug. 13-------Olympia-----Dept. of Information Services, 1110 Jefferson St. SE Aug. 14-------Seattle-----Federal Center South, 4735 E. Marginal Way South Aug. 15-------Vancouver-----Department of Ecology, 2108 Grand Blvd. Aug. 19-------Bellingham-----Dept. of Transportation, 3920 Airport Way Aug. 20-------Wenatchee-----Washington Apple Commission, 2900 Euclid Ave. Aug. 21-------Yakima-----Dept. of Transportation, 900 E. Selah Rd. Aug. 22-------Spokane-----Dept. of Transportation, 2714 N.
