Large lock back in service March 29 at 4:10 p.m.

Chittenden Locks UPDATE: Small lock re-opened, large lock operational at 4 :10 p.m. March 29, 2002, 4:10 p.m. SEATTLE--The Chittenden Locks' small lock, which had been down for normal maintenance since March 18, reopened around 1:30 p.m. today. The large lock was back in operation at around 4:10 p.m.
This morning, the large lock had a problem with the hydraulic system, which opens and closes the gates. Locks staff and contractors worked throughout the day to get the large lock back in service, according to the Army Corps of Engineers, which operates the Chittenden Locks in Ballard.
The large and small lock at the Chittenden Locks in Ballard were both out of service this morning beginning at about 9 a.m.
