SPEAKER: Leigh and Leslie Keno
EVENT DATE: 10/09/2004
RUNNING TIME: 54 minutes
DESCRIPTION:
Leigh and Leslie Keno speak at the 2004 National Book Festival.
Speaker Biography: Leigh and Leslie Keno have been actively involved in the field of American antiques since childhood. The twin brothers accompanied their antique dealer parents to fairs and kept a personal diary of transactions. Even at the age of 12, they considered themselves to be antique dealers and appraisers. Now Leigh operates his own gallery in Manhattan, featuring fine 18th and early-19th century American furniture and decorative arts, and Leslie runs the American furniture and decorative arts department at Sotheby's in New York. They are antiques experts and hosts of "Find!" -- the Public Broadcasting System series in which they visit homes across the country, calling upon experts to help viewers learn how to care for and display antiques. They also make regular appearances as appraisers on the PBS series "Antiques Roadshow." The Kenos are authors of "Hidden Treasures: Searching for Masterpieces of American Furniture" and they write a furniture, furnishings and design column for This Old House magazine.
