Media Advisory: Sherman, Corps, City to begin Bull Creek environmental work

What: Ground Breaking for Bull Creek Ecosystem Restoration Project
When: 9 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008
Where: Beilenson Park, Sepulveda Recreation Area

Details: U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman will join officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Los Angeles to mark the beginning of a $4.5 million ecosystem restoration project at Beilenson Park. The project will restore native habitat in a highly-urbanized area, providing foraging and nesting opportunities for wildlife indigenous to the region.

Scheduled speakers include U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman; Col. Thomas V. Magness IV, commander of the Corps’ Los Angeles District; Los Angeles City Councilman Tony Cardenas; and Mr. Ramon Barajas, Principal Maintenance Supervisor for the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks’ Valley Region Maintenance Division.

Members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony at the construction site adjacent to Lake Balboa in Beilenson Park. Enter at the park access road from Balboa Blvd approximately one-quarter mile south of Victory Blvd. The ceremony site will be on the north side of the access road.
