Fisheries Regional Offices
The Northwest Region administers National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA) Fisheries Service programs off the coasts of Oregon and Washington, and in the vast inland watershed habitats of Pacific salmon in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Its principal responsibility is implementing the Endangered Species Act (ESA) and recovering 26 populations of listed salmonids covering more than 40 percent of the land base of three states.
Pacific Islands Regional Office
The Pacific Islands Regional Office of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The Pacific Islands Regional Office manages programs that support both domestic and international conservation and management of living marine resources within the Pacific. The Southwest Region is one of the National Marine Fisheries Service's six regional offices and six research centers located throughout the United States. Its programs assess, manage, and promote the conservation of living marine resources through these divisions. Serving the Southwestern United States, and Islands of the Pacific Ocean since 1964, the Southwest Region continues to ensure that the living marine resources of the Pacific are used wisely.
The National Marine Fisheries Service, Southeast Regional Office is dedicated to protecting and preserving our nation's living marine resources through scientific research, fisheries management, enforcement, and habitat conservation. NOAA Fisheries is a leading voice for commercial and recreational fisheries and continues to focus its efforts on sustaining our marine resources.
The NERO is located in Gloucester, MA, which is on the North Shore of Massachusetts, approximately 35 miles Northeast of Boston. The NERO employs approximately 200 people in the Gloucester offices and various field offices located along the East Coast.
